Welcome to E.L. Wood Braiding Co., Inc. founded in 1995. We are a family owned and operated manufacturer of custom braided rope and cordage located in beautiful Upstate New York in the town of Marathon, just 25 miles south of Syracuse and 15 miles north of Binghamton. Since our beginning it has been our focus to make sure all of our products are made in the USA. We are proud to say they still are.

E. L. Wood’s resources are extensive and diversified. We specialize in developing and manufacturing custom products for industries and markets worldwide including: defense, aerospace, tactical – police and military, marine, pet / equine, and outdoor products for fishing, camping, hunting, and apparel. We use a wide array of fibers including Nylon, Polyester, Poly Propropylene, Kevlar, Spectra, Dyneema, Vectran, Technora, Teflon, and many more. Product sizes range in diameter from 1/16” to 1.”

Some numbers and facts worth noting

Imagine producing 1,584,000 ft., 300 miles every day, and 78,000 miles of custom braided cordage per year. Laid end-to-end it’s a little more than three times around the earth in just one year (earth circumference is 24,901.55 miles). Can you imagine that? We can and we’re adding to those numbers every year. Some other interesting numbers include:

• The largest selection of colored nylon in the U.S.A with an endless number of color combinations

• One of the largest suppliers of braided “550” parachute cord in North America

• Supplier to NASA for fire resistant over braids used on water bags during the Space Shuttle take-offs

• Cord produced for ID lanyards for the 2002 Olympics held in Salt Lake City, Utah
